Description

Approaching through fairytale woodland rich in wildlife (foxes, badgers, deer and more) brings you to the pretty courtyard of this 16th century cider farm. A Norman timbered former cider farm set amongst the rolling hills and wildflower meadows of Calvados. There’s a fenced duck pond, often little rolling bundles of kittens and utter peace and tranquillity. Picture lazy summer days relaxing under the apple, pear and walnut trees with a glass of cider or Calvados accompanied by that moreish cheese from nearby Camembert. Children can run free in the spacious, enclosed garden and adjacent play area. Don’t miss the table d’hotes where little ones are made welcome or within baby monitor range. This weekly feast of traditional Norman fare is served by your hosts Peter and Anja in the delightful guest dining room.

Enjoy the fabulous views over the courtyard and beyond from this first floor former hayloft. You’ll enjoy the huge living space and an extra bonus is two bathrooms. One complete with bath – a boon for busy parents at the end of the day.

If you're lucky enough to have 'car happy tots' don't miss Monet's Garden in Giverny (1hr 50 minute drive). The pretty port and town of Honfleur is also well worth a visit (50 minute drive) but bear in mind that the cobbled streets can prove awkward with a pushchair.
Another 45 minutes on from Honfleur is Le Valaine, a goat farm with 60 Alpine Chamois dairy goats and two billy goats. The goat's milk is made into delicious chocolate and ice cream and the lively owner Bernard will delight in giving you a tour (in English).
