Nestling at the foot of the Große Arber mountain and just minutes on foot from the Bavarian Forest National Park, the village of Bayerisch Eisenstein offers an all year round resort. In summer choose from numerous gentle cycle rides or the myriad of pushchair-accessible forest walks right on your doorstep. Or take your passport and enjoy a 20 minute stroll across the border into the Czech Republic. During the winter months the Große Arber mountain is a wonderful place for learning to ski (from 3 years old). There's always a festival to enjoy and little ones will love using the toboggans onsite to explore the gentle slopes nearby. Your high quality accommodation is spacious with all modern conveniences and your tap water comes straight from local springs on the Arber mountain!

Additional Information

If your tots are happy with longer car journeys then Nuremberg (2hr 30) is where you’ll find Germany’s oldest and best known Christmas Market. Runs daily from the end of November when the air is filled with the delicious aromas of gingerbread, cinnamon, Nuremberg Bratwurst, roasted almonds and Glühwein! Children are spoilt for choice with a magnificent carousel, reindeer, Santa’s sleigh and many hands on activities from baking biscuits to candle-making. There’s even a heated Playmobil activity playcentre. Don’t miss the arrival of the Nuremberg Christmas Angel…

The German railway ‘Waldbahn’ is clean, reliable and easy to access with a pushchair. Leaves Bayerisch Eisenstein station hourly for various destinations within Germany. Why not take a train ride followed by a boat trip down the Danube!

For a bird’s eye view take the cable car ride to top of Arber mountain. With several eating places at the top and spectacular views across Bavaria, the Czech Republic and (on a clear day) to the Alps. With children’s playground.

And for those happy to venture further afield…

…2 hours to the stunning medieval city of Prague…

…3 hours to beautiful Salzburg in Austria. Make a beeline for the terrace at Café Tomaselli and enjoy their excellent coffee (such as mocca, Mozart liqueur, and whipped cream!) whilst a waitress brings a huge tray of mouthwatering cakes to your table…

Don’t miss your host Martin’s famous Schnapps evening!
