Child Friendly holidays by the beach

Summer has well and truly closed its doors but that doesn’t mean we can’t still head to the beach for a family break!  We have put together a selection of child-friendly holidays in the UK for an autumn break close enough to the coast to enjoy some blustery seaside walks and fun!

St.Ives, Cornwall

A lovely little farm-stay located just two miles from the St Ives Harbour. There are some amazing views and walks on the doorstep but set in a rural location to make you really feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle. St Ives is an all year-round destination to visit, with plenty going on and most of Cornwall’s family-friendly attractions remain open.

On the farm there are four cottages, animals to pet, toddler play barn, an outdoor play area and large grounds. The owners know what it is like to travel with little ones, so they really are there to look after you and your family.

Trefeddian Hotel - Aberdyfi – Wales

A family run hotel set in a fantastic location with four miles of sandy beaches stretching across the hotel itself, that only take a 5-minute walk to get too. It is only a short stroll to Aberdyfi village, where you will find lots to do for the whole family, home to some fab restaurants, galleries and boutiques. This is a beautiful part of Wales so if you fancy venturing out a little bit further, there is plenty of family-friendly attractions to entertain the whole family from walking, cycling to zip wires and golf.

This child-friendly hotel has 59 rooms all of various sizes. Children have the option of dining early or eating later in the evening with the adults. If you fancied a chilled day in the hotel, there are four lounge areas all offering bar snacks, afternoon tea and lunchtime snacks. A heated swimming pool, indoor and outdoor play areas.

Why not take the fur baby with you for an extra £12 a night. The hotel is not only child-friendly but dog friendly too.

New Forest, Hampshire

Now if you are looking for something quirky and a little bit different then this is the place for you. This cottage is a higgledy-piggledy fairy-tale home found along a quiet forest track. Down this lane you will also find wild horses and cows often wandering around.

This family-friendly holiday cottage has four bedrooms sleeping 4-8 plus 3 babies, great for 2 families planning a little family adventure this Autumn.

New Forest is a lovely time to visit this time of year with the beach being just 1km away on foot or a short bike ride away. The lovely seaside town of Lymington the Georgian costal town is not too far away and worth a visit after exploring the New Forest countryside first of course.

Treal Farm, Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall

Treal Farm is a super little farm-stay in southern Cornwall that is both child and pet friendly. Located in a rural setting on the Cornish coast with Kennack Sands golden shores and coastlines just a few minutes’ drive it is a fab place for a family holiday in Cornwall any time of year. The Lizard is located just three miles from Treal farm, it is the most southern point of mainland UK and well worth a visit, coastal walks with wonderful views.

There are two cottages within a peaceful courtyard setting with parking, gardens and an outdoor hot tub. They have lots of extras for young families with toys, an indoor and outdoor play, travel cots and highchairs and offer babysitting too. For a winter stay there is an open fire in each cottage and central heating to keep the family toasty and warm after a day exploring.

Shanklin, Isle of Wight

A beautiful country house set in a countryside setting for your next family holiday in the Isle of Wight. The owners have converted the house into four child-friendly apartments, so it is great for a little family trip or even as a group getaway. Located just a mile from the train station and half a mile from the Old village, overlooking onto Shanklin Down.

You can walk to the old village or the beach, that takes 15 minutes, some fantastic coastal and seaside walks. There are lots of options for family days from the Isle of Wight Zoo to cycling the Red Squirrel Trail, Shanklin Chine is also a nice little find!

The gardens here are fully enclosed, great to let the kids run freely and have a little play in the play areas. If the weather is dry, a nice BBQ would go down nicely and when it starts getting a bit chilly can have a little seat round the firepit.

Family friendly hotel, Nr. Weymouth, Dorset

This family friendly hotel in Dorset, is a Georgian manor house set in unspoiled countryside, overlooking Chesil Beach in West Dorset. 5 minutes from the seaside resort of Weymouth.

There are so many things to do in Dorset it really is a lovely place to visit with young children. Enjoy some fantastic coastal walks from your doorstep or even family days out such as Portland Castle, Weymouth Sea Life, Bovington Tank Museum and more. If you do not mind a drive the famous ‘Jurassic coast’ is 45 minutes by car, fantastic place to go exploring with all the family.

The hotel itself has so much going on to entertain you and our family you might not want to leave. Three swimming pools all indoor and heated, free creche, games room, outdoor toys and games. There is also a spa and sauna if you want to escape the little ones or an hour or two.
