Our visit to this family-friendly farm stay in Suffolk

Our visit to this family-friendly farm stay in Suffolk

A family trip to Suffolk is perfect any time of year, we visited in May this year and the good old British weather was terrible but there was still lots to do & keep the kids busy on this fab family-friendly farm stay. Animals to feed & eggs to collect, great little honesty shop, outdoor play equipment, indoor games room, tennis court, a lake, super indoor pool, sauna & hot tub – many of the cottages also have their own private hot tubs.

It’s location is really easy to get to as well if you live in the south of England. It’s just 1.5 hrs from London and only 20 minutes from Colchester if you wanted to arrive by public transport – trains from London Liverpool Street take just 45 mins to reach Colchester.

Indoor Pool

The indoor pool is super! There are little cubby holes in the hall to leave your shoes, which means the pool area stays lovely & clean. There are also changing rooms. The pool is large enough to have a proper swim and the best bit is it’s wonderfully warm – heated to 30 degrees! Meaning your kids will happily spend hours splashing around & the only tricky bit will be getting them out!

Honesty Shop

My children loved the honesty shop, they were able to walk in on their own, pick up a bag of animal feed & pop the cash in the money box – a great bit of independence for older kids.

The shop is really well stocked with lots of essentials – fresh eggs, bread, jam, biscuits & most importantly (for parents!) chilled alcohol.

The day we arrived; we had some lovely ‘cook’ curries from the shop & a bottle of fizz.

Animals

The hen house is large enough for the kids to climb inside & collect eggs for breakfast.

Most entertaining are the goats who are professional escape artists and are never in their pen. They wander around looking for food and are very friendly – waiting outside our cottage for more food

There are also 4 Kune Kune pigs, ponies, sheep & ducks.

Cottages

We stayed in one of the two-bedroom child-friendly cottages, which had a lovely cosy feel. It was well equipped & the bread & jam in the welcome hamper was delicious

We were also lucky enough to have a private hot tub on our decking.

Days Out

Colchester Zoo – we had a wonderful day out at Colchester Zoo. Apparently, it was the kid’s favourite zoo that they have visited 😊 there are bears, monkeys, elephant’s, giraffes, Komodo dragons, sloth, penguins, seals and the highlight for my two was feeding the Rainbow Lorikeets.

Frinton-on-sea – a 45 mins drive takes you to the lovely sandy beach of Frinton-on-sea. Frinton is a quiet (uncommercialized) seaside resort. The sandy beach is perfect for games, running around & building sandcastles. The promenade is backed by colourful beach huts & there are shops & cafes on the high street which is a 5-minute stroll away.

Wonderful farm stay

Holiday Tots have been working with the owners of this lovely farm-stay for many years and year after year families tell us how wonderful it is, there are cottages of every size to suit different family groups – one beds for a couple & baby and a large 6 bed Farmhouse for a family get together or celebration

A wonderful farm-stay, close to London, good in any weather and there is still some availability for November & December - including the last 3 remaining cottages for Christmas & New Year.
