The Silver Coast, Portugal – a family holiday guide

Families with young children looking for a holiday in Portugal usually head for the Algarve, with it’s fab beaches and family friendly activities they can’t go wrong, but what about the Silver Coast? This hidden gem is slowly becoming a not so well-kept secret.

Portugal’s Silver Coast has many blue flag beaches, beautiful coves within the cliffs and clear blue waters and they are an obvious attraction. Where to stay? For a family with young children our lovely garden apartment is ideal, the owners are always on hand should guests need anything but are equally distant if that is preferred. The swimming pool is fully enclosed and so safe for babies and toddlers and its location is perfect for exploring the Silver Coast. There are lots of baby and toddler facilities and if you are looking for a night out the owners are more than happy to babysit!

Locally to the holiday apartment are plenty of child-friendly beaches with two blue flag beaches within 15 and 20 minutes. If it is history you are looking for look no further than the medieval walled city of Obidos or for some thrills the two water parks only 30 minutes away. About the same distance is the Budda-Eden a large open park of lakes and statues. Nearer to villa is a boating lake just 3kms, large play park and Caldas da Rainha Park – a large play park.

If you are looking for more inspiration why not visit our blog which has more information on what is happening along the Silver Coast.

Don’t forget the Algarve though! Where you will find plenty of activies, holiday accommodation and super beaches especially suited to toddler and sand castle building! Take a look at our holiday properties in Portugal or visit our blog entry on the Algarve itself.
