Child-friendly holiday cottages get three stars from Atout France in the Lot, France.

Situated in the undiscovered beautiful region of the Lot in France are these lovely toddler friendly holiday cottages who recently have been awarded three stars by Atout France.

Atout France is the Tourist Development Agency in France. When you see their stars on any accommodation in France it means that they have investigated and rated the holiday accommodation. Holiday property owners have to invite them in to do this and it can be nerve wracking time!

Marion, owner of the three gites in the Lot had this to say about her experience:

‘Not so easy to get 3 stars with Atout France I have to say; now I understand why not so many gites get them (or maybe bother to do so). The criteria for everybody all over France is the same, Chambre d'Hôtes, gîtes and hotels. The guys checking are very precise (he measured even the inside = capacity of the fridge). There are 112 criteria they check out and one has to get "points obgligatoire" and "points à la carte". They were checking that we provide our guests with biodegradable (cleaning) products, the quality of the bed, that there are mattress protectors and so on and so on. I spent four hours with them but we have now got our three stars.’

The stars are an official guarantee of quality, service and comfort something that Marion and her family have been working hard to achieve. Their hard work has paid off as guests also give them fabulous reviews. 

The three gites are nestled among six acres of child-friendly gardens. The holiday cottages have two, three and four bedrooms and are all especially suitable for a toddler friendly holiday. There are strict rules on the ages of children who can holiday here: eg families with four children have to have at least two under 5 and no children over the age of 9/10 years are allowed promoting a real toddler friendly holiday environment.
