A Gruffalo Adventure: Our Magical Day at the Lyric Theatre
Posted by Sachelle, 5th August 2024 at 09:30We recently enjoyed a fantastic family outing to see the new musical adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. It was a day filled with magic, laughter, and a few delightful surprises!
A Delightful Family Show
The musical was a joy from start to finish. It brought the beloved story to life with vibrant new songs and interactive fun that kept everyone entertained. The show was designed to be family-friendly, engaging both children and adults alike. The interactive elements, where kids are encouraged to roar and join in with the characters, were particularly enjoyable. It was wonderful to see all the children participating and having a great time.
Rupert, who’s 2 and a half, was captivated throughout the 1-hour performance. We made use of the theatre’s booster seats for younger children, which were a great addition. Rupert had his own seat but chose to snuggle on our lap, making the experience even more special.
The Gruffalo Experience
One of the highlights was when the Gruffalo himself made an appearance in the audience. Rupert was absolutely thrilled, and if you can, try to get stall tickets for the best view of these magical moments.
After the show, we were invited to a Gruffalo Tea Party, which was a wonderful end to the day. We enjoyed delicious cake, did some Gruffalo-themed coloring, and met the characters up close. Although Rupert got a bit overwhelmed during this part, Mummy managed to get a memorable ROAR photo with the cast. Rupert has been excitedly telling all his friends at nursery about meeting the Gruffalo, and it’s once again our favorite bedtime story.
The Gruffalo Live is running at the Lyric Theatre until September 8th. If you’re looking for a magical family outing this summer, this show is a must-see!
