Child-friendly holiday chateau in the Charente with lots of baby and toddler equipment still with availability for a family holiday in 2017!
This wonderful chateau is situated on the edge of a little village with 2 bars a post office and petrol station. It is situated in 14 acres of enclosed meadows and landscaped grounds. There are six child-friendly cottages, enclosed swimming pool, toddler pool, friendly animals, play barn, home-cooked meals, baby sitting, maid service available– what more could you want from a family holiday along the sunny Charente/Dordogne border in France? And they still have some availability for this year.
The Château
There are six child-friendly holiday cottages here within the 14 acres, all of which have been carefully renovated to a high standard with family holidays in mind yet all retain original features. Each cottage is equipped with a modern kitchen, the bedrooms have luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding and sun terrace and BBQ.
Who stays here
During the school summer holiday season this family-friendly château is full of families with children aged 4 to 14 and outside of the school holiday periods it is exclusively for families with pre-school children.
The owners take great pride in their beautiful château and they specialise in baby-friendly holidays too. This is a fabulous holiday location for all the family and especially if it is your first holiday with baby or toddler in tow. There is just about everything you could possibly need to make your holiday a pleasurable one. From bath toys to safety gates, changing mats to steriliser you really will not want for anything.
What to do here
Toddlers and young children will soon relax and get into the swing of it here. There are lots of friendly animals, sheep, goats and guinea pigs, a play barn with table tennis, table football, books and DVDs etc, plus a ‘Tots Zone’ with toys galore. The owners can arrange home-cooked meals, babysitting, maid service, bread delivery, relaxation treatments and wine tastings.
The main swimming pool is heated and enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and is fully enclosed. There is also a separate children’s paddling pool for the little ones.
Within the enclosed grounds there is a huge sandpit, wooden climbing frame, trampoline, swings, slide, football pitch, boules and giant Jenga.
Further afield
If you can manage to drag the children away there is so much to see and do in the area for the whole family to enjoy. There may not be sea beaches but there are some fabulous inland family-friendly beaches. Aubeterre has a lovely river beach with grassed play area, café and restaurant and canoe hire, there is also a river beach at St Aulaye with the addition of water slides. If it is a lake beach you are looking for with white sand, head over to La Jemaye. All within easy reach by car.

If you want to catch the ferry, St Malo is the nearest and will take just under 6 hours to drive, the nearest airport is Angouleme just 30 minutes away. Further afield, and all within 1 and a half hours, are – Bordeaux, Poitiers, Bergerac and Limoges.
If you prefer to go by train, the TVG goes direct from St Pancras and change at either Paris or Lille to Angouleme which is just 20 minutes away.
