This 5 bedroom imposing 17th Century former coaching house is located in the historic town of Rochechouart and is ideal for families with children of all ages. This small historic town, situated on the borders of the Limousin (fondly known in these parts as The French Lake District) Poitou -Charente and Dordogne; is a great base to explore the wonderful lake beaches and countryside that this region has to offer. The house is arranged over three floors with stairgates and baby dans, and offers spacious accommodation for large families or sets of friends. The adjoining two bedroom apartment can also be rented along side the main house for even larger parties or as an ideal getaway for grand-parents!
Owners Annabelle and Garry pull out all the stops to help every family have a wonderful holiday. Annabelle; a fully qualified primary school teacher, can offer a baby sitting and child minding service, during your holiday. Whether you fancy slipping away to explore some of the local markets or vineyard experiences; or just simply fancy a little 'me time', Annabelle is available day or night to occupy and entertain your little ones. This service can be booked beforehand or during your stay and payable in local currency or £ sterling at a rate of 15 euros per hour).
They also offer a Grocery Shopping service ( 15 euros plus cost of the shopping) and free Welcome pack (inc Tea, Coffee, milk, bread, jam, juice, wine and ingredients for first night meal and first breakfast).
Medieval Rochechouart, situated on the famous Route Richard de Coeur de Lion (Richard the Lionheart's famous journey across these parts) offers a good choice of restaurants and bars, located a short stroll from the property. There are two local supermarkets 5 minutes drive away, and larger hypermarkets 10 minutes drive away. Within Rochechouart there are 3 bakeries, ideal for the early morning croissant run! Several banks, a post office, hairdressers, butchers and cheese shop. A larger selection of shops can be found in Saint Junien (10 minutes drive away). It has become very popular with fishermen and has a large fishing lake within walking distance of the house. A licence to fish can easily be obtained from the local Tabac. There is also a fabulous Chateau in Rochechouart, which houses an interesting array of contemporary art, in addition to stunning architecture and original fresco's.
Why not wander the wonderful cobbled streets or watch the locals playing boule up the shady avenue by the chateau.......
The spacious triple aspect sitting/dining room is well equipped with large TV, video, DVD and Sky access. Comfy sofas and chair, offer a cool and relaxing place to sit and unwind, whilst the large dining table and chairs offers an opportunity to all gather together for a meal or two, or challenge family and friends to a wealth of board games or cards. There is also a great selection of books both fiction and non-fiction to enjoy and Wi-Fi access. There are plenty of DVD's to watch and a Play station and Wii console and games. A stereo system and large CD library is also available for guests use.
From the large entrance hall is the kitchen. It is equipped with all modern conveniences including oven, hob and extractor; microwave, table and chairs and American style fridge/freezer. The Old coaching Inn offers high chairs and a booster seat.
Access from the kitchen on to a long shady terrace offers wonderful views of the valley and countryside below.
There is a large toy cupboard located in the kitchen as well as great toys and games to be found in the hall, a large room which has also got great Wi-Fi access and a chesterfield sofa to relax on whilst the children play!!
Under the main sweeping staircase is a small utility area which houses the washing machine and dishwasher.
Bedroom 1 with a king-size bed, Bedroom 2 with a double bed, Bedroom 3 with twin queen sized beds, Bedroom 4 with a double bed and Bedroom 5 with a double and single beds..
On the half landing there is a small toilet. On the first floor there is a Jack & Jill bathroom situated between the master and double bedrooms, equipped with bath, shower over, WC & basin. The second floor has a large bathroom with shower, WC and hand basin.
The garden is spread over three terraces that are laid mainly to lawn, these are accessible from the house by a double stone staircase (which have gates at the top and bottom). The first terrace is flat with BBQ and garden table, chairs, and feature well. A step down takes you to the second terrace offering sun and shade and an above ground oval swimming pool (7m x 3.5m) with a protective stair barrier to prevent any climbing! There are sun loungers and a table and chairs to enjoy a sun downer or two!!! The bottom terrace has a trampoline, and swings and private parking if required.
