Overview - Chez Charente

This traditional farmhouse has an open plan kitchen/diner, seperate living room, 3 bedrooms, a family bathroom and en-suite. It has been lovingly restored and offers comfortable family accommodation sleeping 7 plus two cots. It is full of French character, with large fireplaces and sandstone floors, and offers all the modern comforts you would expect in a well-equipped home.

The fully enclosed swimming pool is located in secluded grounds and is shared only with the owners. It can be made private (by prior request). The child-friendly farmhouse has it’s very own private (fully enclosed) garden too.

There is a large list of baby/toddler toys and equipment. Owner Penny is a qualified Norland Nursery Nurse and will provide 1 evenings complimentary baby sitting (up to 4 hours, Sun - Fri), while husband Steve drives Mum and Dad to a local restaurant for dinner). Additional babysitting available at a charge on request.

Property details

Ground floor
Entering from the private patio area you will find a large open plan dining/kitchen with farmhouse table and a large Charentaise fireplace with log burner and comfy sofa. The large separate sitting room (with Freesat TV/DVD plus an extensive DVD library) has another traditional Charentaise fireplace with log burner. Also on this floor is a family bathroom and utility cupboard. There is Air Conditioning in the 2 main rooms downstairs should you need it.  

First Floor
On the first floor are three bedrooms off a large landing/play area. On the landing you will find a large selection of toys and games for all ages.
Bedroom one with king size bed and en-suite has lovely views over the farmland and garden.
Bedroom two can be a double or twin and has traditional exposed stonework and beams.
Bedroom three is a spacious bedroom, and can be set up as either a twin or a triple. The third bed is a child's single. 

All the bedrooms are large enough to accommodate one of the two cots available and have shutters to avoid the early morning light and midday heat. Bed linen and bath towels are provided for your stay, linen is changed each Friday if staying for longer than one week. All beds have duvets. A number of swimming towels are available. All rooms have fly screens fitted and standing fans for the warmer nights. 

The grounds are spacious and secluded, providing several differing areas both private gardens and communal areas shared with the owners. The Farmhouse has it's own fully enclosed private garden with bbq and two seating areas, one walled patio outside the main doors and the other in the grassy garden. There is lots of space for children to run and play and a small climbing frame and swing set.

During your stay you are welcome to help yourself to fresh herbs from the herb garden, fresh fruit from the fruit trees when in season and fresh eggs from the chickens.
