Overview - Property ref PM1B
This is a region dotted with tiny hamlets and small market towns, a land of trees, mountains, water and pure, clean air. You may not want to leave this sprawling, peaceful haven.
A complex of 200 year old Charentaise barns with a cluster of gites. A large floodlit heated swimming pool with adjacent spa pool and a wonderfully shady and fenced children’s play area plus a large undercover play area with swings, table tennis, and other outdoor toys. There is a stone children's play house equipped with table and chairs, play-kitchen and play-school materials and an indoor games room (with a quarter size snooker table, indoor and outdoor toys and games, books, family DVDs, music, and buckets and spades for use at the nearby beaches etc.).
With an impressive list of every item of essential baby equipment you could possibly need, you can most definitely relax and unwind. Book a beauty treatment, watch the spectacular sunsets from your private patio and decide when to indulge in the menus of varied fare on offer.
Daytime child-care available by qualified child minder plus if you fancy a day out at the lakes the same childminder also runs a kid’s club (Petite Pirates). Parents and carers can have a relax by the lake beach while the kids are entertained.
For those wishing to explore a little, your hosts will happily create and pre-book a full days itinerary for you in the area or book restaurants all with your littles ones in mind. Or why not make use of the bicycles and large-wheeled, sturdy pushchair available and enjoy the country lanes? The local village two miles away has a bakery, shop and bar with supermarkets ten minutes drive away in Chabanais and Rochechouart.
The fairytale Chateau de La Rochefoucauld will take your breath away. Visit the caves and the dressing up room which children will love! Talks in French and English. Lovely tearooms nearby selling mouthwatering crepes and there is also an independent chocolaterie below the chateau.
The two best lake beaches in the area are under a five minute drive from the cottage, the beaches are sandy, with clean water for swimming and paddling and they are supervised by lifeguards in the summer months too. Both beaches have play parks with climbing equipment and slides. There is mini-golf, horse and pony rides (shetlands for toddlers), pedaloes and watersports (sailing, windsurfing, canoes, kayaking and motor boat rides) suitable for families. As a guest you can get discounts on these watersports, it’s well worth a trip here. (See the Tots Top 10 for some other great family days out)
For families with twins, multiples or lots of babies still in cots, Paula has six cots and six highchairs and is really flexible on where to put them, just ask, and if she can do what you want she will!
This very child friendly renovated barn is open plan downstairs and comes with a fully equipped kitchen leading to a private terrace. On the ground floor there is also a double bedroom with WC.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom, a twin room and a shower room with WC.
Modern infrared heaters and electric radiators heat the cottage beautifully on those chilly nights.
