• Le Lac Vert - Le Lac Vert is the village lake in Catus, it has a small sandy beach with a gentle, sloping water’s edge and a grassy area to sit on. During high season there is a café open and a delightful all year round play area. The local Mayor’s office checks the water quality regularly, so the hygiene is good and the sand is changed every year. the pathway around the lake is pushchair friendly, it’s a lovely afternoon out. 5km drive
• Horse Riding Catus - Suitable for three years up being led by a leading rein. For those of you who are more able why not take a hack around the local area. It needs to be booked in advance 0565 20 06 24. Catus 5 mins drive
• Chateau de Castelnaud - The owner’s boys think this is the very best and most exciting place they have visited whilst living in France.The Chateau offers room after room of swords, chain mail, armour and examples of weapons. Along with video footage explaining what it “used to be like”. The whole place is a discovery of an age gone by, there are picnic areas and toilets, all well kept and clean and the tours are in English. Open 10.30 am to 6pm. The Gardens de Marqueyssac are nearby. A nice drive to the Dordogne. 45 minutes drive
• Animal Park Gramat - This whole animal park is pushchair friendly. It is a lovely park with farmyard animals and lots of local animals too such as wolves bears and otters. There is a central picnic and café bar area. There are also little bus stop type shelters all around the park for sheltering from the rain or sun. 45 minute drive
• Prehistoric Park - La Cave, near Rocamadour. A wonderful morning or afternoon of family fun, especially if you are a dinosaur fan! - closes between 12pm and 2pm like most French places! The forest is spread over several hectares that are pushchair friendly. Nip back into the past, with life size dinosaurs around every corner with a photo opportunity in a dinosaur’s mouth at the end and an ice cream. 45 minute drive
• Cahors, Pont de Valentre - Boat Rides. - Boat rides run from mid June to mid September - 11am, 3pm, 4.30pm, and 6pm. Trips are around 1.5 hours and run along the river to see Old Cahor and there is a handy ice cream shop next to the boat, the trip is fun and not too long. 20 minute drive
• Monkey Park, Rocamadour - Stroll for an hour on flat land, where the monkeys roam free and take popcorn from you. Its quite safe and there are attendants everywhere. Its good fun and the children love it. Opening hours from 10am to 12pm and then in the 2pm to 5/6pm depending on the season.The best view of Rocamadour can be had from the end of the monkey park, it is on the opposite side of the valley and just seems to be hanging there! Nearby is the Gouffre De Padirac. 45 minute drive
• Gouffre de Padirac - An underground adventure, the tour takes an hour and a half so not so good for children under 3 or 4 but it is fun, spectacular and breathtaking. Access the caves in a lift, along an underground river in a Gondola type boat. After disembarking, the visit continues on foot to the vaulted Grand Gours and the Grand Dome. Take a jumper. 45 minute drive
• Le Petit Train, Cahors - This little train is in Cahors town centre next to the Pont Valentre along the river’s edge. It’s a great way to see Cahors with young children. The train is on wheels on the road! Train operates between 10am to 12pm and then 2pm to7pm. 20 minute drive
• Quercyland - Great water park that is suitable for all ages. Snack bar on site. Trampolining, bouncy castles, go carts…. 45 minute drive
