Overview - EPT
If you have ever been camping you will know how much fun it is going back to basics and enjoying the nature and wildlife on offer. Al fresco dining and the kids being totally shattered after all that beautiful country fresh air. Socialising with friends and sitting round the camp fire with a glass of wine. You may have also experienced a queue for the facilities, being a little cold at night and not having the most comfortable of stays. Well, this bell tent has the best of both. With lovely soft furnishings, a double mattress in a warm and dry tent, we’re not sure you’ll want to go back to normal camping!
The facilities are lovely - The showers in the woods are wood-fuelled with a lovely canopy view of the trees above. They are beautifully hot and clean and have plenty of space for you to get changed too, however If you’re not up for showering outdoors there is an electric shower a short walk away!
You will have access to the Camp kitchen which is equipped with all the essentials such as pots, pans, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is also a cool box and ice packs which can use. The kitchen has 3 gas stoves and Rayburn oven. Tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt and pepper are already here so don’t worry about forgetting those little bits. You will also find herbs planted next to the kitchen so help yourself whilst cooking up your masterpiece. You may well prefer to eat the natural way and get that camp fire going – if so, there is a tripod and large pots/grills to hang off it so you can cook up your stews or have a barbie.
If you don’t fancy cooking and preparing your meals you can always purchase a homemade meal for the family that you just need to heat up. A great option if you really want to relax and have a turn at switching off from your daily life. There are also BBQ packs which contain locally sourced meats, just ask the owners when you enquire or when you arrive. They’ll be happy to help.
As this is a chance to really take time out, you will no doubt enjoy the lack of mobile coverage. If you need access to the Wifi just ask. There isn’t any electricity in the woods but there are charging points in the shower room so you can still charge devices and use the hairdryer/straightener! You will be given 2 rechargeable lanterns to use for your stay so you won’t just have to rely on just the starlight above to find your way in the middle of the night.
There are some great activities for the kids to get involved with (and adults too!) The sheltered parts of the site are great for socialising if it’s too hot or a bit rainy. Cosy Corner is a great little arts and crafts hut full of little bits and bobs to keep the kids entertained. Each child will receive a little activity pack complete with stick pencil, lots of ideas of games to play and things to do along with a collectors bag. Kids will love following the trail around the site to the den, swings and feely boxes. Exploring the wildlife as they go and stream dipping and scavenger hunting. Great fun for all the family.
With the site being so friendly and sociable, the kids may want to get involved with a giant game of Jenga, boules or a cards competition, or just simply enjoy playing out with new friends. This may well give you and other parents a chance of a glass of wine and chat! Can you stretch to a lay in the hammock with a book? Bliss!
