Overview - BGLL
Multi-Award winning Best Glamping site, in Devon and the SouthWest, for the past 2 consective years and one of the top 3 sites in the country.
There are five luxurious safari lodges to choose from, each with a log burner, private shower room and wonderful furnishings but that’s not the best bit! The lodges are located within seventeen acres of beautiful countryside, nestling in a private secluded valley in North Devon. Follow the streams and nature trails, build dens, or have a boat race around the boating lake. If that’s not enough then set down to a game of football in the football field, cricket, basketball, petanque, bowls or whatever game takes your fancy as there are plenty on offer.
For you adults there is a lovely hot tub, situated away from the lodges overlooking the lake and setting sun. You are able to book this along with babysitting for the sunset hour for £60. The hot tub has its own private changing room, outdoor shower, natural aromatherapy products, fruited iced, water acrylic glasses and a bucket of ice. There are bottles of fizz, cider and beer available to buy or why not save the bottle of fizz you are given as a welcome gift.
The owners have thought of everything, even a way of making sure you get time off from cooking should you want it. Simply choose from the range of breakfasts, picnics or evening meals and leave your order in The Larder by 8pm and then send the kids to pick it up the next day. Simple! The menu consists of many family favourites, such as spaghetti bolognaise and lasagne to baked salmon and Thai green curry, all using locally sourced ingredients. For breakfast you can opt for freshly baked croissants or maybe a chocolate twist! For sweet teeth there is a fab selection of puddings to choose from too.
On arrival each lodge is stocked with basic essentials to get you started; tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, a bowl of fruit and essential condiments plus a platter of fresh herbs to use for cooking.
For little ones the cabin bed can convert into a cot or there is a travel cot in every lodge if you would prefer. The owners will provide a mattress and bottom sheet, just remember to bring a sleeping bag and favourite blanket. The lodges also come with high chairs, changing mat, toddler loo set and melamine crockery. There is a rocking horse, rocking car and plently of other toys to borrow or even buy in the Larder shops.
It doesn't stop there! They also accept dogs in all lodges, so your little furry friends can join in on all the fun. Each lodge can have up to 2 dogs. They provide a bed, blanket and bowls and charge a £25 supplement. They also have a range of meals from Lilys kitchen in their shop, along with a list of dog friendly beaches, gardens and pubs. One of the team members can provide a door to door dog sitting service if needed.
Further afield Exmoor and North Devon are waiting to be explored. Meet ponies, spot red deer, play on the golden sands of Woolcaombe beach, surf, swim, paddle. If you fancy trying your hand at surfing guests are entitled to an exclusive surfing package (half day session with a 2 hr lesson costs £50 per person). Alternatively if you want to surf on your own guests receive 15% discount.
There is so much do here for every member of family from cycling or walking to visiting one of the many child-friendly attractions and family days out like Exmoor Zoo, The Wildlife and Dinosaur Park in Combe Martin, Aquarium in Ilfracombe, Arlington Court, Lundy Island and more.
