Half Term fun - Day 1

Posted by Sachelle, 26th October 2020 at 09:09
Family-friendly half term

We have put together a series of fun ideas for you and your family to do at home during this half-term week. Monday to Friday, we will inspire you with a daily indoor, outdoor and an on screen activity.

Below is Day 1

Indoor - Baking

Georgia who is 4, loves baking, and so do a lot of her friends. Don’t worry about getting fancy equipment and spending a fortune on ingredients. You can pick up a cupcake kit at most supermarkets for a quid and all you need is a muffin tray, some water and an egg. They love opening the box, mixing and then pouring the ingredients into the cupcake cases. Try not to worry about the mess – the more mess, the more fun! The hard part is waiting for the cakes to cool before you can decorate them. Most of the cupcake kits come with icing and edible toppers.

Screen - Duvet day with an ultimate Disney classic!

Popping on a film in the afternoon is win win for my family, especially on a rainy day or after being out on an autumn walk. Grab a pack of popcorn, a packet of chocolate treats, mix them together and pop in a bowl – just like your very own cinema! Oooo why not have some hot chocolate too! How about getting the whole family to put their favourite Disney film on paper in a hat and pick at random?

These are the 5 Disney films I would be adding to the pot:

  • Lion King
  • Beauty and The Beast
  • Lady and the Tramp
  • The Aristocats
  • Bambi

Outdoor - Re-wilding your garden

As we are in the middle of a strange time, we thought it might be nice to do something for nature and the enviroment. It's also time our wildlife need a little help, as many are ready to hibernate. How about having a go at re-wilding at least a portion of our outdoor space providing shelter, food and water to all creatures great and small.

Bugs

We are going to make a portable bug hotel for our new garden (as we are moving house this week), but you could make a stationary one or even a small one for the windowsill

So get out foraging with the kids and then get building!
