Scotland lies in the northern third of Great Britain, surrounded by seas to the North, East and West and England to the South. The country is divided into four main regions, South Western Scotland with it's abbeys, medieval castles, hills and cliffs. Eastern Scotland, home to the largest city, Glasgow and the capital, Edinburgh. As well as the hustle and liveliness of the city there's also great coastlines with sandy beaches, and historic fishing villages. North Eastern Scotland with empty beaches and home to Aberdeeen and Dundee and the Highlands and Islands with their mountains, glens, lochs and rivers – the most spectacular scenery.
It is this scenery that Scotland is mostly known for along with it's fantastic culture and heritage. There are many activities for those who are looking for a bit of action, from white water rafting to kayaking and sailing and the golf courses are obviously spectacular and a must for enthusiasts. There are lots of family fun days out too, from exploring castles and forts, hunting for the Loch Ness monster and visiting a variety of wildlife parks and farms. Add in the top class eateries and fab shopping and the whole family is covered!
