• Local Beaches - As youd expect when you come to Spain, there are plenty of beaches for you and the kids to enjoy. We know what makes a good beach for the youngsters though, and we know what our kids enjoy most. Thats why we always direct guests to the safest and most child-friendly beach in the vicinity and its only 45 minutes away.
• Pola Park - Pola park is a big funfair for kids. Its loads of fun and the really great thing is most, if not all of the rides are designed for the under 10s. Open times and days vary throughout the year but in the summer month it opens at 6pm through to around 1am. We have often combined dinner in Santa Pola followed by Pola Park. A lovely evening out.

• Aquopolis Torrevieja - There are quite a few water parks in the Costa Blanca area but this is the one that we go back to time after time. Whilst there are some big water slides most of the park is geared up towards 10 years and downwards. It feels safe and not too big. It is really well staffed with very vigilant lifeguards. There is a very lovely area for toddlers and little ones which bigger kids are not allowed to use. You can hire sun loungers but there is a very large grassed area where you can picnic as well. • Mundo Mar - This is a really lovely park to visit and gives you some great views of Benidorm, if you like skyscrapers. Of all the zoos, we think this is the cleanest and well kept, a real pleasure to visit with loads of covered areas to get out of the sun. They also run shows throughout the day. Make sure you see the Dolphin Show set to the music of Phantom of the Opera, just stunning and it sends tingles down your spine. They have a great kids play park for kids of all ages. Our kids could easily spend the whole day just in the park

• Elche - Elche is just a wonderful city to try and get lost in. To really appreciate it, head for the Basilica of Santa Maria and just stroll through the old town with its many squares, shops, bars, parks and restaurants and see what you can find. The parks are simply perfect for little ones to run around and explore and jump on the little tourist train for a ride around the city.

• Alicante - We just love Alicante. One of the best kept secrets in Spain in our opinion. It really is a lovely city and well worth a visit. Theres loads to see and do and a day wont do it justice. Park down on the front in one of the large public carparks, they really dont cost much to park in. You are right in the heart of things already. Wander along the Esplanade and visit the market stalls to pick up a few souvenirs. Grab a wonderful lunch in the port or wander through the narrow streets of the old town where you can visit the stunning Cathedral and dont miss the town hall. Dominating the Alicante skyline is the Santa Barbara Castle which is free to get into. Take the lift up to the top for a 360 degree view of the city. Dont miss mushroom street! Yes that is a thing, a brightly painted streets with model mushrooms for little ones to explore.
• Chocolate Factory - Our kids love the chocolate factory, mainly because of the free taster chocolate I must admit, but they did enjoy looking around the museum and finding out how chocolate is made. Valor to the Spanish is the equivalent of Cadburys to the British. It is the most popular chocolate in Spain and you can visit their factory and taste their chocolate. The tours are free but check with us first for times of their tours in English. They are normally around 11am but not every day. Combine this with a wander around Villajoyosa which is famed for its brightly coloured fishermans cottages along the sea front. It is a really pretty place to visit and have lunch. There is also a nice beach and play areas for the kids if you want to make a full day of it.

• Tabarca Island - Once a pirate hideout, Tabarca Island is just a half hour boat ride from Santa Pola. There are a number of boat trips that you can take but try and get on one of the glass bottom boats to get the most from the trip. The island is only small but very quaint with narrow, traditional Spanish streets. There are a good selection of restaurants when you are over there, alternatively take a picnic with you. There are a couple of small beaches there which would probably get busy in the summer. Our kids loved buying a net and fishing off the rocks
• Terra Natura - We have lost count of how many times we have visited Terra Natura in Benidorm. They have recently opened their Multi Adventure Park which is a play area of rope bridges, towers and slides ideal for slightly older kids. It is definitely a good way to spend a day and our kids often pester us to go back. The park is divided into continents and you can walk around each area to see their native animals. Make sure you go and feed the elephants and the tigers are amazing to watch. You can combine this with a trip to Aqua Natura water park which is right next door for this you need to buy a combined ticket.

• La Romana - La Romana is our local village and for a village of less than 2,000 people there are 3 fab parks for little ones to explore. You can combine this with a tapas lunch in one of our friendly local restaurants. Its a slice of real Spain.
