Overview - Property ref TRSC1
Tresco Island is magical for a family holiday. The island itself is less than 30 miles off the coast of Cornwall and is only 2 ½ miles long. It is Britain’s largest privately owned Island and attention to detail and the quality of the accommodation, facilities and services is amazing. You will be totally spoilt on this calm and tranquil Isle. Sandy beaches, clear waters, amazing accommodation and food and tropical gardens – this place is truly spectacular.
You will be pleased to know that Tresco will never feel overcrowded, even in peak season. And with where Tresco is located, it’s a fantastic base to explore the other Islands of Scilly with the inter-island boat service.
The island has lots to offer a family. The beaches, Greenland and woodland are right on your doorstep for cycle rides and walking. The climate on Tresco means that the world-famous Abbey Gardens can see sub-tropical species unseen elsewhere in the UK. Dating back to the 19th Century, it offers a little piece of history. The gardens house 30 figureheads from ship wrecks from the last 200 years and there is also an art gallery on the island – relax and take a stroll round! Take a walk along the coastal path and you’ll find Cromwell's 17th century castle and a short trip up the hill takes you to King Charles Castle with amazing view of the islands.
Tresco is a car-free island which means kids are free to use it as their playground, nice and safe and perfect for exploring! If you’d like to be a little more active on your holiday you can hire a bike or even borrow a boat, windsurf or kayak from the sailing club.
Maybe a session at the Flying Boat Spa leisure facilities is more your style. The heated pool, tennis courts, spa, Jacuzzi, gym and sauna as well as access to the golf course is all included in your stay. (Treatments additional cost)
The islands food store stocks all the baby essentials including wipes, suncream, baby food etc… so you don’t need to worry about forgetting anything. You will also be able to pick up some lovely local produce for your meals if you want to eat in. You can also order in some chefs delights to be delivered to your cottage – just enquire when booking or when you arrive on the Island.
If you fancy eating out, there’s a café and restaurant (open 3 times a week for evening meals and mainly serving light lunches, snacks and drinks daily) and the New Inn pub to choose from. All serve fantastic food and have kids options. The New Inn pub has been awarded 4 yellow stars and a Gold Star Award from The AA for quality and service and an AA rosette for food excellence. It is one of only 12 Cornish pubs to be listed in the Michelin ‘Eating Out in Pubs Guide’ so this place is definitely worth a visit.
The café is the closest from these cottages and its open daily from mid-March to early November for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It has a chilled out atmosphere which is perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine whilst you watch the kids play on the beach from the terrace. Bliss!
These beautiful one bedroom cottages are arranged over 2 levels with a double bedroom (with balcony) upstairs and a bathroom.
Downstairs there is an open plan living area which is perfect for 2 adults and a small child/baby. There is a compact fully equipped kitchen with a small table and a sofabed. (This could sleep 1 or 2 kids, depending on size) There is WiFi broadband and digital satellite TV. The living area leads out onto a terrace and garden.
4 of the cottages face Easterly – which is great for a bit of morning sunshine and they are very close to the waters edge. 5 of the cottages face South with distant views of the sandy beaches. Please discuss which cottage would suit you best when enquiring with Tresco.
