Overview - Libbear Barton - The cottages
Libbear Barton may well have been pulled straight out of the pages of The Wind in the Willows. A stunning 40-acre estate with plenty for the whole family to enjoy, without even having to leave.
Each cottage has its own private enclosed garden with BBQ, play equipment, including a little trampoline and access to the estate’s facilities including:
Heated indoor pool, with floats and toys, fun for all ages at any time of year. The pool also has comfortable changing rooms and is open to guests 9am to 8pm every day.
Sauna, fancy escaping the kids for a few minutes? Unwind in the lovely sauna or let off some steam in the gym, both are also open 9am to 8pm
The games room is fun for all ages with table tennis, air hockey, bar football, darts and more, upstairs is a playroom for little guests with lots of toys and games. There is a soft play room which is set over two levels with rollers and slides.
There is a communal outdoor playground perfect for under 12s and a lovely view of the lake from the lookout tower and an indoor soft play room.
The Wild Wood is home to five acres of beautiful woodland, perfect for family adventure. Depending on the season there are barbecues in hidden areas, a stream for paddling, heaps of bluebells, a badger’s hide and much more. So, if you venture into the Wild Wood there will be plenty to keep the family happy whatever the time of year.
Libbear Barton is a 40-acre working farm and throughout the seasons there is something different to watch, from tractors sowing seeds to harvesting crops etc. The beautiful lake is home to Canada geese, ducks and moorhens and lots of babies during the spring along with many swallows from Africa. An early morning stroll or dusk walk is when you might spot a deer, bat or barn owl or two.
Libbear Barton is not only child-friendly but dog friendly too. Dogs are welcome outside of school holidays and in certain cottages and they must be booked in advance. If you want to take your four-legged friend just mention when enquiring.
For larger groups and special occasions there is a fantastic events venue, The Stables. This room can seat up to 40 for meals and there is a fully equipped commercial kitchen. It is an ideal space for a big birthday celebration or party and can be booked for a small fee when partially booking the site (must include Toad Hall), or for free when hiring the whole estate. Owners Max and Alex can help source caterers etc if needed.
Further afield: if you can drag yourself away there is lots to keep the family entertained, beautiful walks and countryside including Dartmoor (just over half hour drive) and beaches in Bude and Widesmouth Bay etc also just over half an hour’s drive.
