This zero-carbon energy self-sufficient house harnesses the power of the sun and ground to provide electricity, heating, and hot water for guests. It even contributes surplus electricity back to the grid! Plus, it offers a Type 2 EV charging point for electric vehicles.
Unique and Sustainable Design
Lowen is a masterpiece of sustainable architecture. Everywhere you look, there are massive wooden beams reclaimed from demolition projects, each piece full of irreplaceable character. The cottage’s structure, assembled like a Meccano set, is filled in with straw bale and pegged with hazel twigs. Covered with lime mortar and breathable eco-paint, the walls even have peep holes to showcase the traditional regional construction methods used.

Lowen can accommodate up to 8 guests and features an open-plan living space with large windows offering stunning views down the valley towards the woods. The outdoor space includes a sheltered patio and a garden hot tub, ideal for relaxation. The farm stay at Bosinver is fantastic for families with young children, offering an abundance of equipment for toddlers and babies, as well as toys to borrow.

Owners Pat and Dave put sustainability at the heart of everything they do at Bosinver. With over 100 guests staying on the farm every week, they seize the opportunity to raise awareness about environmental issues and lead by example. Their initiatives include:
- Refunding taxi journeys from the station to Bosinver for car-free guests
- Promoting local excursions using public transport
- Providing secure cycle storage and connections to local cycle hire companies that deliver to Bosinver
- Offering multiple electric car charging points
- Encouraging recycling by providing information, compost caddies, and recycling bags
- Using leftover food to feed animals or convert into compost for the gardens
Eco-Friendly Facilities
