Looking for a family holiday in France? Check out Chateau Gurat, a family friendly holiday cottage complex on the Charente Dordogne border, beautiful setting, amongst 14 acres of meadows and woodlands to explore. 

There are six luxury child friendly holiday cottages all of which have been renovated to a high standard to make holidaying with family comfortable yet still keeping their traditional stonework and oak beams. Each holiday cottage is well equipped for babies and toddlers and have a cosy living room, well equipped kitchen, private terrace and BBQ, complimentary hamper on arrival and of course, an extensive list of baby and toddler items which can be requested when booking. 

With its relaxing, rural atmosphere and lots to do for the kids and adults, guests will not want to leave! The stunning enclosed heated swimming pool is always a big hit for every family member, with its panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and its heated toddler pool. 

Guests can start the day with a morning visit feeding the friendly goats and chickens, collecting the eggs before venturing out into the large playing field where children can play, bounce on the trampoline, climb and swing, there are also lots of garden games in a chest for guests to help themselves too. The indoor playroom is often a hub for children to socialise with others. Lots of fun for older children too and adults with its table tennis, table football, TV and games. Then for the little ones children’s books, ride on cars and and assortment of dressing up costumes.

Popular for  babies and toddlers is a shaded sand pit with toys, there are also some sofas in the shade for the adults to relax while the children play. 

Adults only pizza and wine tasting evenings are held weekly on the Bergerie terrace, which has beautiful views across the rolling meadows and woodland of the chateau, close enough to all the cottages for Baby monitors to work too. There is also excellent wifi coverage throughout, so phone-based video monitors are also an option. A great chance to meet some of the other guests, and enjoy some quality 'adult' time.

If you can drag the family away there is lots to do nearby. Beautiful walks direct from the Chateau, sandy lake and river beaches within easy reach, local vineyards, cognac houses, market days, animal attractions and a must visit, Moulin de Poltrot. An old mill with a little restaurant next to the Dronne river, with a sandy river beach, adventure playground and a labyrinth, only 10 minutes away from Chateau Gurat.
