Looking for a family holiday in France? Château Gurat is a fantastic baby and toddler-friendly holiday cottage complex on the Charente-Dordogne border, set in 14 acres of scenic meadows and woodlands. It’s the perfect destination for a relaxed family getaway in the beautiful French countryside.

There are six charming, child-friendly cottages, each carefully renovated to keep their original stonework and oak beams, while adding modern comforts for families. Every cottage is fully equipped for babies and toddlers, including a cosy living room, a well-stocked kitchen, and a private terrace with a BBQ. Start your stay with a complimentary welcome hamper, and feel free to request any baby or toddler essentials in advance to make your holiday even easier.

There’s plenty for everyone to enjoy, with a great mix of family-friendly activities. The enclosed heated swimming pool (complete with a toddler section) is always a hit, offering stunning views over the countryside.

Kids will love the daily animal feeding sessions, where friendly goats and chickens are always ready to greet little ones. After that, children can explore the large outdoor play area, which includes a trampoline, climbing frames, swings, and garden games. Indoors, there’s an indoor playroom with table tennis, table football, and games for older kids, while younger ones can enjoy books, ride-on toys, and fun dressing-up costumes.

For babies and toddlers, there’s a shaded sandpit full of toys, and nearby sofas for grown-ups to relax while keeping an eye on the little ones.

For parents, weekly pizza and wine-tasting evenings on the Bergerie terrace are the perfect way to unwind. The cottages are close enough for baby monitors, and with excellent Wi-Fi, video monitors are a breeze too. It’s a lovely way to meet other families and relax after a busy day.

When you’re ready to explore, there are plenty of options nearby. Beautiful walking trails start right from the property, and you’re just a short drive from sandy lake and river beaches, local vineyards, Cognac houses, markets, and animal parks. Be sure to visit Moulin de Poltrot, just 10 minutes away—it’s a gem with a sandy river beach, playground, labyrinth, and a restaurant by the Dronne River.
