This lovely family-friendly hotel overlooks the Fowey Estuary in Cornwall and is thought to have inspired Kenneth Grahame and his wonderful tale of Toad Hall in The Wind in the Willows. The hotel is completely baby and toddler friendly without compromising on quality.

The excellent facilities at this hotel inspire family time both indoors and out, with zip wires, outdoor heated pool as well as an indoor pool - we doubt that there is a child in the land that won’t have fun.

The complimentary crèche facilities are second to none and allow some free time for adults. Each day of your stay you can choose up to two hours free child-care for babies through to 8 year olds. The breakfast club on Sundays, and selected days throughout the holidays, is especially popular, giving adults the chance to have a lie in and enjoy a paper and breakfast in bed together!

As well as lots of space for running around there is also a zip wire plus wellies, fishing nets and buckets and spades to borrow.

Older children can enjoy computer games in the Blue Room or watch the latest film in the cinema room.

Two swimming pools - a heated outdoor pool as well as an indoor swimming pool.

Dinner time couldn’t be easier as children’s meals are served all day. Choose family dining or let the little ones eat early, and after bed enjoy a grown-up dinner. Children will love Children’s High Tea between 5 and 6pm with its very own party ambience so no need to feel guilty if you want to eat alone later. Once they are asleep take advantage of the complimentary baby listening service (if you prefer a babysitter, this can be arranged at an extra cost) and enjoy some of the best local and seasonal ingredients expertly prepared.

The baby equipment list is endless and the hotel will liaise with you before you arrive making sure the bottle warmer, bed guard cot, potty etc is all in your room ready for you. Bottle heating and fresh milk is available free of charge and delivered to your room when requested. The chef is also happy to provide pureed food from 7am to 10 pm.

The spa at this hotel is family friendly too. Enjoy a family swim or chill out with the little ones on the terrace. Alternatively book into the spa and have some me time with relaxing treatments in the adult-only area while the kids enjoy playing in the crèche where there’s art equipment, toys and dressing up clothes.

The location of the hotel is amazing with views over the Fowey Estuary. There is plenty to keep you occupied right on the doorstep: rock pooling, kayaking, swimming. Or just stroll along the Esplanade and enjoy a pint of local ale in a traditional riverside pub, or wander down to the cove where you will find St Catherine’s Castle; hop on the river ferry or venture further afield exploring many of Cornwall’s attractions (see Top 10).

The rooms here are ‘opulent and luxurious’ but perfectly decked out for kids and dogs. There are 36 rooms (including 12 family suites and plenty of inter-connecting rooms. Some with sea views and plump sofas!).
